Kalinga Village
In the Mountanuous part of Northern Philippines, tattoo is a sacred part of Kalinga tribe culture. Tribe warriors has tattoos all over their body as protection from evil spirit. Traditional tattoo is made by the use of coal ink and oranges’ thorns attached in a small tree branch pounded continuously to make a pattern. As modernization reached the tribe, their tattoo culture was left out. Whang Od is the last remaining tattoo artist of the tribe. |
